The best part of growing up on Long Island...

...is being able to come back to visit when the city gets to you! After teaching summer school for my first and LAST year ever I decided to come out to my parents house on Long Island to relax for an entire week (I'm telling you, even though I teach 1st grade..summer school was enough to make me need MORE than a week of resting!) Something about Long Island in the summer is so calming to me. It brings back memories of getting dropped off at the beach at 8 am on my mom's way to work and being picked up again at 6 pm on her way back home. God what I would do to be 12 again!

This is my parents' backyard and our boat. It is exactly what I need to get the craziness of the city out of my system for a few days! Although don't kid yourself... after being woken up by my step-dad at 6am to see if I want to go fishing a few mornings in a row, I'm sure I'll be running back to the next train to Penn Station- haha! ahhh for now I'll enjoy it.
